Revolutionizing Energy Efficiency: How AI is Transforming Data Centres – Part 1

Jan 28, 2024

In the dynamic landscape of technology, the quest for energy efficiency remains paramount. Enter the innovative realm of AI-driven solutions, where startups like ours are pioneering ground-breaking approaches to optimize energy consumption in the worlds most energy intensive industries.

At the heart of our mission lies the development of an autonomous AI system tailored to control HVAC, water systems, and lighting systems within data centres and IT closets. Our goal? To revolutionize energy utilization and slash costs for businesses while championing sustainability.

The problem

Generative AI and the internet are predicted to consume 20% of the worlds power by 2030. On top of this, 17 ounces of water is consumed every 20-50 questions you ask ChatGPT through evaporative cooling methods. It is clear that a more sustainable approach is required if technology is to continue developing at this rapid rate. All this energy and water is consumed in data centres, some of the worlds most energy intensive buildings. That is the focus here at Fluix, we seek to improve energy and water usage efficiency to make this critical infrastructure more sustainable.

Our solution

Version 1 of our dashboard.

We have developed an AI co-pilot that integrates into data centre systems and brings together data and insights from the previously fragmented HVAC, water and lighting systems. Our AI then seamlessly and autonomously optimizes all of these systems using real-time data. This allows staff to put more time into revenue generating activities instead of manually recording data from each individual system. We are currently running an experiment to test our AI technology against the conventional auto setting in a HVAC system. This will allow us to see what level of energy savings can be achieved using our technology. Over the next two weeks, we will be collecting data and comparing energy consumption between traditional operation and our AI intervention. If our AI proves to be more efficient, we've struck gold. And rest assured, we'll be sharing more on the results in a detailed case study. We will also go into more detail about the experiment in the next article.

Thank you for being part of Fluix’s journey and stay tuned for more on this experiment. Follow our socials to make sure you don’t miss anything.
